Abstract

Topology control plays a vital role in maximizing the network lifetime and in increasing the network capacity of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). In this paper, a two tier architecture based topology control algorithm which increases the overall energy efficiency of WSN is presented. The lower tier involves clustering of sensor nodes which forms cluster slaves for the purpose of data gathering. The upper tier forms a communication network, where data forwarding between the cluster heads destined to the sink node, takes place. Cluster head selection is a critical process in this two tier architecture. So a new methodology based on genetic algorithm, for cluster head selection in a hierarchical cooperative approach which takes care of the nodes bandwidth, residual energy and memory capacity is proposed and implemented. Simulation results prove the effectiveness of our algorithm.

Abstract

Nash Equilibrium is the well known game theory approach that is used extensively for solving the instability problems. Overlay networks are the proper choice for reducing the packet drops due to link failures. However there is an unsolved instability in these networks due to lack of proper communication between the nodes in the network. Once this instability problem in overlay networks is solved, it can overcome all the disadvantages as predicted theoretically and offers itself as a false proof choice for networking. This paper provides an intensive survey on the application of Nash Equilibrium to stabilize overlay nodes with different routing techniques.

Abstract

Nowadays a large amount of images are transmitted through internet. It uses a very large bandwidth and often results in time out errors and images can not be downloaded easily. Therefore it necessitates an effective image compression technique that uses lesser bits for representing the image and hence lesser bandwidth. This paper proposes a lossy bit plane compression technique that targets Interpixel redundancy and uses Constant Area Coding for replacing a block of bits. The performance of the technique is dependent on the choice of block size. This paper also quantitatively compares the impact of block size on image compression.

Abstract

The transferring of huge multimedia data over the limited bandwidth environment has many challenges in real time. Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSN) is a special type of wireless sensor networks which are used to overcome such bandwidth limitations in order to provide effective transferring of multimedia data. The malicious nodes in WMSN fail the links between the sensor nodes which degrades the efficiency of the entire network. Each node in WMSN may have its own signal transferring capability based on its energy level. If the energy level of the node degrades beyond the threshold level, that node becomes malicious node which is the main reason for the link failure between this node and its surrounding nodes. The data transfer is affected by the link failure nodes which degrades the performance of the entire system. Hence, the detection of link failure is important to improve the performance efficiency of the network system. This paper focuses the link failure detection system using deep learning approach. Hence, the detection of link failure is an important task to improve the performance of the network. This paper proposes an effective methodology for detecting the link failures of clusters in WMSN using deep learning architecture. The nodes in WMSN are grouped in to number of clusters and cluster head is determined using multi tier clustering approach, based on the energy levels and weighting metric approach. Then, the features are computed from each cluster and these features are classified using Visual Geometry Group (VGG) classification approach in order to detect the link failures of the clusters in WMSN. The performance of this developed methodology is analyzed with respect to Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) and latency.
